WRFSC Learn To Skate
Program offered by the York City Ice Arena - Staffed by coaches from the White Rose FSC
Group lessons offer an excellent introduction to skating and provide a foundation for fun that will last a lifetime. This is an ISI (Ice Skating Institute) standardized Learn to Skate Program.
Appropriate for ages 3 and up and all levels of ability.
Saturdays from 11:15am-12:45pm or Wednesdays from 5:15pm-6:45pm
- Half-hour lesson and one-hour practice for each participant
- Skate rental is available at no extra charge.
- Certificates are awarded upon completion of each level.
- Badges are available for those who become members of ISI (Ice Skating Institute)
- Optional Annual ISI Membership for $13.00
Lessons are taught by The York City Ice Arena Skating Director Elsa Swenning and skating instructors from The White Rose Figure Skating Club.
ISI Skating Levels:
Tots - Ages 3-5, Students learn to feel comfortable on the ice, to stand and fall properly.
Pre-Alpha (Beginner) - For skaters who walk on skates. Teaches gliding and balancing on each foot.
Alpha (Advanced Beginner) - Forward stroking, forward crossovers, and snowplow stop.
Beta (Intermediate) - Backward stroking, backward crossovers, and T stop.
Gamma (Advanced Intermediate) - Outside forward 3 turns, mohawk, and hockey stop.
Delta (Advanced) - Inside forward 3 turns, forward edges, lunge, and bunny hops.
Freestyle I - Basic spins, jumps, and footwork.
Learn to Skate 2007 Schedule:
Session 3: $80 for 8 Weeks
Wednesdays: Jan 9 - Feb 27
Saturdays: Jan 5 - Feb 23
